Who Can Join?

The Kentucky Extension Homemakers Association (KEHA) welcomes members regardless age, race, color, national origin, creed, marital status, gender, education or economic status. Any full or part-time homemaker, male or female, rural or urban, teenager or senior citizen and in-between, may belong to KEHA.

The Nicholas County Homemakers will be hosting the Bluegass Area Annual Meeting this year. Join the Homemakers of Nicholas County and help us show off our beautiful community to the surrounding counties.

Don't let the name fool you! Knit Wits is a crafting group that meets every other Tuesday starting in September until May, and we're about much more than just crafting. We explore all kinds of creative projects, from painting and jewelry making to paper crafts and mixed media. Whether you're a seasoned crafter or a complete beginner, come join us for fun, inspiration, and a chance to connect with fellow creatives. New projects every session!

Want to learn how to quilt?

This club is open to all levels. If you would like to bring in a completed quilt you would like to share with the group, please do! If you’ve never quilted but are interested in learning more, like me, bring those questions you have. We have members from beginners to experts who love to share their knowledge.

Bluegrass Area Meeting 2024 Attendees in Powell Co.

We had 21 homemakers attend the Bluegrass Area Homemaker Meeting in October of 2024 in Powell County. Nicholas County was well represented and many of our Homemakers walked away with ribbons in the Cultural Arts Competition.


KEHA Annual Meeting

The Kentucky Extension Homemakers Association (KEHA) held the organization’s 90th annual State Meeting at the Sloan Convention Center and Holiday Inn University Plaza in Bowling Green. More than 450 attendees from across the state, including 61 first-time participants, took part in the three-day meeting celebrating the theme “Blazing the Way with KEHA.” Nicholas Co. Homemakers had 6 attendees for the event and brought back a wealth of knowledge to pass down to their fellow homemakers. Join us for the 2025 KEHA State Meeting that will be held May 6-8th at the Hyatt Regency in Lexington, Ky. The theme this year is “Discover KEHA – A Hidden Treasure”

What is Family & Consumer Sciences (FCS)?

FCS stands for Family and Consumer Sciences Extension. FCS programming focus on building assets of individuals and families to address problems faced across the lifespan. Family and Consumer Sciences Extension emphasizes well-being with a focus on human development, parenting, resource management, nutrition, health and leadership development.

At the community level, FCS Extension prepares individuals for community and economic development and activity. Professionals in Family and Consumer Sciences Extension provide the tools to help individuals and families to develop resources for strengthening families and building community for an ever changing society.
